Abstract
Atherosclerosis has been identified as the most common pathologic process of the carotid wall. Duplex ultrasound allows showing all the phases of the atherosclerotic process (increase of intima – media - thickness; presence of plaques and occlusion of artery) using both modalities: two-dimensional view and Doppler blood flow analysis.
Besides, this non-invasive method is able to discover other pathological processes in the area of interest.
