Autologous intra-arterial infusion of bone marrow mononuclear cells in patients with critical leg ischemia

Abstract

Aim. The injection of bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMC) into the gastrocnemius muscle has given promising results in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI).

In this article, we have assessed whether a less invasive procedure, i.e. intravascular BMMC infusion, could be effective in this population of patients.
