Abstract

History of drainage for surgical wounds is long. In the case of clean shots in the last century, argued that a drained can lead to secondary infection.

Therefore, the drainage in bone surgery, virtually abandoned, even when created was a frequent cause of hematoma absorptive temperatures, caused a wound dehiscence, and often become infected. Following the introduction of closed suction drainage and Jost Redone in 1954, spread drained again.

Closed suction drainage technique is augmented with the knowledge that reduces the risk of ascending infection and hematoma removal is undoubtedly a positive effect on healing. The aim of our study was to identify the risk of surgical wound drainage to determine their relevance and suggest ways to eliminate it.

Based on recent literature, we chose as the key issue of risk surgical wound drainage duration of drainage, the extent of blood loss and manipulation of the drainage system, wound dressing number and type of surgery.
