Abstract

Sirtuin, named for their homologous protein "Silent Information Regulator Two" coming from the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a group of high interspecies conserved nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide-dependent enzymes that are chipped off deacetylují histones and acetyl lysine residues of proteins. The main objective of this article is to briefly bring pharmacological importance of the main activators of sirtuin 1 natural or synthetic origin, which during the last few years, especially when tested oxidative damage.

The article described primarily related biological activity of these compounds since they are considered "favorites" in the search for new pharmacologically active compounds and potential drugs. With the recent development of knowledge about communication between 1 and its sirtuin modulators (eg, resveratrol) acquires pharmacological and clinical research in this area, a new perspective.
