Abstract

Meta-analyzes results of studies undertaken is inclined to conclude that intensive post-operative diagnosis of relapse of the disease shows a statistically significant difference in overall 5-year survival rate of patients and can detect relapse in kurabilním stage, especially in locating the liver and lungs and local recurrence. In the case of relapse in rectal cancer, not all the studies are inconclusive, or indicate the minor importance of intensive follow-up.

Analysis shows no significant difference in the incidence of relapse among patients in groups with minimal versus intensive monitoring system, however, closely monitored group was significantly higher number of surgical interventions for recurrence, which is probably due to earlier diagnosis and thus a higher resectability of recurrence. Our results show the crucial importance of intensive post-operative diagnosis of relapse, in the intensive follow-up of the resectability of recurrence in the liver, lungs, and local recurrence 50%.
