Abstract
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a relatively rare disease, which occurs usually in patients after recurrent pulmonary embolism, which for various reasons not to complete lysis tromboembolu and then there is peripheral vasculopathy, like other forms of chronic pulmonary hypertension. Without treatment CTEPH disease with very poor prognosis.
Key prognostic indicator of the severity of pulmonary hypertension. Surgical therapy, pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA), a large proportion of patients for curative method of treatment that is available since 2004 in the Czech Republic.
The book summarizes the current knowledge of CTEPH and the possibilities of its treatment with special emphasis on surgical therapy. In the introductory chapters is discussed issues epidemiology, prognosis, pathophysiology and diagnosis of CTEPH.
It is thoroughly discussed PEA, including indications, techniques, operations, complications, specific perioperative and postoperative care.
