Abstract
The basis of pharmacotherapy of osteoporosis is to reduce the fracture risk. Adequate treatment of osteoporosis should be undertaken on the basis of the etiology of osteoporosis, on the mechanism of drug action and on its safety.
The spectrum of drug used in the treatment is constantly growing, offering new forms of drug delivery in a different application scheme. The emphasis is to minimize the adverse events of the treatment and increase patients compliance due to the need for long-term treatment.
