Prevention of Risk Behaviour: the Explanatory Dictionary of Basic Terms and Concepts

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2012

Abstract

After various attempts to unify the terminology pertaining to school-based prevention in the Czech Republic, Prevention of Risk Behaviour: the Explanatory Dictionary of Basic Terms and Concepts is a unique publication, complementary to the basic textbooks being developed. This book is intended for all primary prevention practitioners, irrespective of their departmental and institutional affiliation or their professional background.

Indeed, it should help in spanning the differences between the original qualifications which these practitioners bring to their school-based prevention work. It will also certainly provide good guidance and support for college/university students in different academic programmes, civil servants at both the national and local levels, donors, and the general public.

Its main objective is to find the common ground in the existing approaches to prevention terminology applied by different professions and departments and provide explanations of the key terms and concepts used in the field of the prevention of risk behaviour that are based on truly in-terdisciplinary and inter-agency approaches.
