Abstract

Monography Fatty acids Omega-3, health and the development is summarizing the results, obtained and published in author´s laboratory during the last 25 years. Monography presents the role and importance of Pufa-Omega-3 (namely of docosahexaenoic acid) in the developing organism - including brain.

Single chapters are dealing with the effects of nutritional state, stress, risk factors in the human newborns on the amount and picture of Pufa-Omega-3. Maternal milk and the presence of Pufa-Omega-3 in the offer of foodstuff as well as the position of docosahexaenois acid in the utrastructure of plasmatic membranes and the importance for their functionning, are described.
