Abstract

Biological therapy in rheumatology is an update review of contemporary possibilities of biological treatment for inflammatory rheumatic diseases and their complications. The book contains current findings about the efficacy and safety of biological treatment in rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus, whereas in certain agents, their use in other non-rheumatic diseases are mentioned as well, e.g. psoriasis, idiopathic bowel diseases etc.

The content of the book is assorted according to the active agents, single chapters pay attention to the characteristics of TNF inhibitors (etanercept, infliximab, adalimumab, certolizumab, golimumab) and other biological drugs used in rheumatology, like rituximab, abatacept or tocilizumab.
