Back pain

Abstract

Back pain can be classified as nonspecific, caused by organic vertebral diseases (infection, tumour, trauma), radicular or pain radiating from internal organs. Mechanical and degenerative changes of musculoskeletal system are the most common cause.

Course of back pain is usually chronic with acute attack. Laboratory tests, imaging methods (X -ray, CT, NMR) together with detailed history are important part of diagnostic process.

Therapy consists of application of analgetics, NSAID, myorelaxans, physiotherapy and surgery in some specific cases.
