General psychopathology – a foundation for the objective psychiatric finding

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2012

Abstract

This article points out that without knowledge of general psychopatology we would be unable to describe an objective psychiatric finding and set the diagnosis, as it is dealing with not only description of single psychopatology but also studies its connection with pathophysiology, genetics, biochemistry, psychology and sociology. The grounds of psychopatology were given by Karl Jaspers who devoted much attention to the problem of subjective and objektive; it happens quite often that subjective symptoms may bear a character of objective signs.

In spite of serious importance of general psychopatology these facts have been grossly neglected during last several decades.
