Risk of extra-intestinal cancer in inflammatory bowel disease: meta-analysis of population-based cohort studies

Abstract

Patients with inflammatory bowel disease have a higher risk of colorectal cancer compared to background population. However, the risk of extra-intestinal cancer remains uncertain.

The aim of this study was to obtain a reliable estimate of the risk of extra-intestinal cancer in Crohn´s disease and ulcerative colitis by performing a meta-analysis of population-based cohort studies.
