Abstract
The chapter introduces the most significant approaches of sociology and social anthropology to the study of death and eschatology (both, individual and universal). Interest is given to the leading authors (from sociologist and social anthropologists of the beginning of the 20th century to the contemporary British and American scholars) and the main approaches of the death studies.
It provides brief examples of eschatological thoughts in the main worlds religions.
