Abstract

Cardiorespiratory arrest is the most frequent cause of death and its symptoms are very well known in general public. A case report of EMS activation for symptoms of cardiorespiratory arrest is described in this paper.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was initiated when the team arrived on scene and patient was later admitted to Coronary Unit of IV. Internal Clinic of General University Hospital in Prague.

The diagnosis of severe shock was stated at the admission and the patient during 4 hours died despite complex and specialised treatment. The result of autopsy and later toxicological examination was a surprise as cyanide poisoning was proved.

Police was immediately informed and after police examination a murder with the use of cyanides was proved. The case is interesting not only for its criminal aspects but also for clinical course- Non-fatal outcome in this intoxication is very rare.
