Diagnostic problems in multiple sclerosis clinical neurologist from the perspective

Publication |
2012

Abstract

The diagnosis of MS is based on typical dissemination in space and time. The most common diseases that mimic the disease are neuromyelitis optica and acute demyelinating encephalomyelitis.

Differential diagnosis must take into account some other nondemyelinating diseases; it is necessary to take into account warning signs and symptoms (red flags). Especially important is the correct evaluation of findings in clinically isolated syndromes.

Misinterpretation can lead to improperly treatments.
