Abstract
Excitotoxicity was firstly defined in seventies years of 19th century. Intensive investigation on this field, mainly the factors which are involved in mechanism of excitotoxicity and substances which could by alble to modify the excitotoxicity process lead to more precise definition of this process.
The aim of this article is to discuss the main excitotoxicity mechanism and their role in pathogenesis of some central nervous system disorders.
