Nicotine effects on rat seizures susceptibility and hippocampal neuronal degeneration

Abstract

Nicotine is a widely used drug of abuse exerting number of effects on the central nervous system. Results of our study has shown that nicotine in several doses decreases excitability of the cerebral cortex and histochemical methods were not able to identify any sign of neuronal degeneration.
