Brain diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in a systemic lupus erythematosus patient treated with immunosuppressive agents including mycophenolate mofetil

Abstract

In recent years, there has been increasing evidence that mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) might be used as both induction and maintenance treatment in lupus nephritis. Despite the reported favourable safety profile, until now case reports of three patients treated with MMF developing primary lymphoma of central nervous system (PCNSL) have been reported.

Here we describe another case of PCNSL in a 41-year-old Caucasian woman with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and proliferative lupus nephritis treated with prolonged immunosuppressive treatment including MMF.
