Single-base resolution mapping of H1-nucleosome interactions and 3D organization of the nucleosome

Abstract

Position of the globular domain of the H1 histone was identified by native cryo-electron microscopy and molecular biology methods. It was shown that this domain is localized symmetrically on the nucleosome’s dyad.

Further it was demonstrated that the first 7 residues of the histone H1 C-terminal (residues 120-127) are essential for the formation of the “stem” motif of the chromatin fiber.
