Administration of hepcidin in 48-hour intervals does not prevent hepatic iron overload in mice

Abstract

Systemic regulator of iron metabolism hepcidin has therapeutic potential. We tested parenteral therapeutic hepcidin substitiution prevents hepatic iron loading in mice fed high-iron diet.

No effect of hepcidin on hepatic iron levels was observed.
