Abstract

Our findings contribute to confirmation as cardiovascular hormone oxytocin. OTR mRNA expression in all heart compartments and their immunohistochemical detection suggests OTR regulatory role in the cardiovascular system and the controls for acute stress.

Using immunohistochemical methods, we have demonstrated the presence of OTR in all heart compartments. We found changes in expression of OTR effect caused by stress.

Consider as unique for the presence of oxytocin receptor in the nuclei, where it was not yet described. This finding may indicate a possible interaction between the extracellular and intracellular signaling OTR.
