Abstract
Summary of the current state of discussion of Searle's Chinese Room Argument. While the thought experiment is not conclusive, the accompanying theoretical argument is valid on the main points.
One needs to distinguish between various version of the position aginst which Searle argues: each of them is refuted by a component of Searle's argumentation.
