In order to establish values for noise, hedonic price method has been widely applied. Most hedonic studies estimate a relative implicit cost of aircraft and road noise, known as a Noise Sensitivity Depreciation Index (NSDI).
Because of variety of the NSDI values among the hedonic studies, we have carried out a meta-analysis to arrive at a synthesis of these studies and to find the main factors that explain the difference in the results found in these studies. The meta-regression analysis examined that significant part of the disparity can be attributed to functional form of the hedonic model, mode of transport, type of data, and year of study.
