Abstract

The authors present the results of the measurement of the pressure pain sensitivity (PPS) of the sternum in a group of 371 men of average age 43.6 + 10.4 year, range 19-66 years), of which 345 men could be considered healthy (no disease diagnosis). Measured values of 60 or more indicate high PPS value while in the contrary value 40 indicates a low PPS.

A group of men with symptoms other than neuropsychiatric is measured in PPS terms from a group of asymptomatic men does not differ significantly. From these results we can conclude that increased neuro-psychological burden is associated with increased sensitivity to pain caused by pressure.

Drivers of vehicles (177 men, mean PPS value of 35.7 + 9.4, respectively. 36.4 + 10.9) is statistically significantly different from other occupations (194 males, mean 36.5 + 9.5 pps, respectively. 37.8 + 11.4).
