Differential diagnosis for mental disorder in adolescence - when to send adolescent to psychiatric examination?

Abstract

This article points out that diagnostic deliberations in adolescents are complicated by overlapping symptoms of mental disorders and developmental changes. The absence of guidelines and diagnostic criteria for child's age and lack of psychotropic drugs approved for use in children contribute to the complexity of this specialization.
