Abstract

Our paper discusses pyrolitic carbon arthroplasty of proximal interphalangeal joint in rheumatoid arthritis patients. Aim of our study was to evaluate first results with these new implants that we started to use in 2009.

We focused on patient satisfaction, range of motion and x-ray evaluation. Our results indicates that it is a very promising method.

However, it is necessary to carefully consider the indication with regards to the condition of the soft tissues around the joint and patient demands.
