Terminologiae medicae IANUA: An introduction to the specifics of greco-latin medical terminology pro students of general medicine

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2011

Abstract

This textbook was prepared for Czech students of General Medicine in co-operation of a young physician and a classical philologist with the aim to minimize the Latin (and Greek) grammar for the benefit of professional specifics and topics. The demonstration of useful approaches should enrich the study with intellectual pleasure: basing on the principles of analogy and creativity, the text tries to confront students with their (sometimes unconscious) previous knowledge and to lead them to find probable solutions.

Comenius’ claim for lucidity is met with tables, diagrams and sketches, a good deal of the textbook is covered by exercises (incl. keys), which enable the students to test their ideas and skills individually.
