Gingival recession: the impact of orthodontic treatment

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2012

Abstract

Gingival recession represents functionally and esthetically adverse complication of orthodontic treatment. Some trends in orthodontics aim to limit extractions, and prefer orthognathic surgery.

However they may result in treatment plans that go beyond rules of stability and safe orthodontic therapy. Gingival recession may be one of the side-effects of the treatment that was not carefully planned.

Our aim is to focus on risk factors that may result in gingival recession within zhe area of lower incisors.
