Repeated liver resection is potentially curative treatment modality for patients with liver relapse after hepatectomy. Although it is a technically challenging procedure there is no significant difference in perioperative morbidity and mortality compared with primary hepatectomy.
The key for the success of the treatment of recurrent hepatic relapse is in close interdisciplinary cooperation in terms of careful patient follow up, active approach to relapse identified and in the application of perioperative chemotherapy and biological therapy.
