Serum bilirubin levels and the risk of Crohn's disease

Abstract

Recent study by Drs. De Vries and colleagues 1 on the association between UGT1A 1 promoter gene variants and a decreased risk of Crohn's disease.

The authors have demonstrated that UGT1A1 *28 homozygosity causing Gilbert syndrome in about 50%.
