Abstract

Drug policy in the Czech Republic is funded from the state and local (regional, municipal) budgets. The funded projects are implemented at central and regional level.

These labelled expenditures are categorized divided by the type of services into main areas of drug policy: prevention, harm reduction, treatment and law enforcement. Primary prevention was in the Czech Republic in 2010, funded from the budgets of the Government Council for Drug Policy Coordination, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Health, at the local level, the budgets of regions and municipalities.

Total labelled expenditure on drug policy in the Czech Republic in 2010 amounted to CZK 627.4 million, of which expenditure on primary prevention amounted to CZK 62.3 million. Almost two thirds of expenditure on primary prevention came from local budgets.

As can be seen from several time series, expenditure on primary prevention are moving to less than 10% of total labelled expenditure of drug policy in the Czech Republic.
