Primary aldosteronism – endocrine disease with cardiovascular manifestations

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2011

Abstract

Primary aldosteronism is one of the most common causes of secondary arterial hypertension. Autonomous aldosterone production is accompanied not only with hypertension and less frequently hypokalemia, but also with more frequent organ damage, in particular cardiovascular, compared to essential hypertension.

To prevent these complications, early diagnosis and treatment of primary aldosteronism are mandatory.
