Abstract

When treating patients with bladder cancer their division into muscle infiltrating and non-infiltrating tumors is important, because the prognosis and therapy in these two groups differ substantially. The basic treatment of non-infiltrating tumors is transurethral resection.

For successful treatment after transurethral resection is important to determine prognostic factors. This allows us to classify patients into individual risk groups. Based on extensive meta-analyzes a different treatment and follow-up method is recommended for each risk group.

The basis of muscle-infiltrating tumors therapy is radical cystectomy followed by urinary derivation. Overall survival of these patients may be improved by neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
