Breast cancer screening, situation and perspectives in the Czech Republic

Abstract

In 2002, the Breast Screening Programme was introduced in the Czech Republic for women aged 45 to 69 years and with screening intervals 2 yeras. In 2007, the participation rate was 51,5 % (in 2003 12,6 %), screening detected cancers were predominantly small (Ca in situ and T1 cancers more than 73 %).

Accredited screening centres (in total 66) in the Czech Republic are checked ones in one or two years and produce very good results.
