Abstract

Hypertrophic olivary degeneration is a rare type of neuronal degeneration involving the structures and pathways of Guillan -Mollaret triangle. Most frequently hemorrhages of the brainstem and cerebellum, palatal or ocular myoclonus and tremor of upper extremity are associated with this entity.

Olivary hypertrophy was revealed in four patients at MR examination. Tegmental hemorrhages were demonstrated in 2 of the 4 patients and only one patient presented palatal myoclonus.
