Comprehension of speech in patients with presbycusis

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to assess the results of sentence intelligibility test in bable noise in a group of patients with presbycusis. Most older patients are no longer able to differentiate speech against background Babble noise amplified by 5 dB.

This capability is obviously worsens with age not only from "audiology" reasons. The most beneficial is design sentence intelligibility test in noise for clients without the hearing aid.

Even the best hearing aid is capable of listening in noise provide only partial improvement of speech intelligibility, especially in old age - question of neuroplasticity of central auditory analyzer.
