Proton pumps inhibitors therapy prescribed by internists and cardiologists at outpatient clinics

Abstract

Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are the most important drugs for the therapy of gastro-esophageal reflux diseases, peptic ulcer and eradication of Helicobacteric pylori infection. This article provides an overview about mechanism of action of PPIs, their clinical indication and interaction with other drugs.
