Adipocytokines in malignant diseases

Abstract

The term denotes the set of molecules adipocytokines produced by adipose complaint, which have many important biological effects. Adipose tissue is not only a passive reservoir of lipids or heat insulator, but it's also very active endocrine tissue.

Accumulation of adipose tissue, particularly in the visceral region, is associated with an increased risk of developing metabolic syndrome, atherosclerosis but also of cancer. In this regard, it is undesirable especially central obesity, in which fat is taken up in the abdominal cavity (omental, mesenteric and retroperitoneal fat - visceral fat).

Obesity leads individuals predisposed to the development of insulin resistance. In its development is pathophysiologically involved in free fatty acids, which are transported to the liver via the portal vein / visceral adipose tissue and adipocytokines, which was discovered still numerous.

At present, also shows that the adipocytokines adiponectin and leptin is involved in the development of many pathological conditions. Adiponectin and leptin is playing a role in the emergence of malignant tumors and may thus be a link between them and obesity, among other things, which is empirically the observed.
