Abstract

TMJ disordes (TMD) are often diseases in poeple population. The goal of TMD therapy is significantly reduce pain and imporve function on a long term basis.

In most cases is best therapeutic methods conservative and miniinvasive therapy. TMJ surgery is indicated when is conservative and miniinvasive therapy unsuccesfull.

Open surgery of the TMD is non-reversible treatment and including disc surgery (discectomy, disc repositioning), osseous surgery (artroplasty, eminectomy, eminoplasty) and TMJ reconstruction (autologous or alkoplastic-joint prosthesis). Complication in open surgery may include pain, infection, bleeding, facial nerv damage, heterotopic bone formation ia).
