Abstract
Interleukin 6 is a pleiotropic cytokine that plays an important role in the pathogenesis of inflammatory rheumatic diseases. The article reviews the mechanism of action, safety and efficacy of tocilizumab in treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic onset juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
