Hormone replacement therapy from the perspective of an endocrinologist

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2010

Abstract

Insufficient hormone production by the endocrine glands can be replaced either with idential hormones processed synthetically (thyroid hormones, cortisol) or biotechnologically (growth hormone, gonadotropins) oro with their synthetic analogues with improved function (desmopressin, aldosterone, testosterone, oestrogen and progestin analogues). Due to the number of preparations, the options to treat hormone deficiencies vary greatly.
