Trichophyton rubrum (Castellani 1910) Sabouraud 1911 – a centennary of its discovery

Abstract

The year 2010 will be a centennary of Trichophyton (Epidermophyton) rubrum discovery. The article reviews some of the biological features of this dermatophyte that could have contributed to its massive global expansion.
