In the "Atlas of diseases in dry bones" we present the processed portion of bone dissections from upper and lower extremities from the museum collection of the former 2nd Pathological Clinic, at present deposited in the anthropological department of the National Museum. This portion comprises preserved clinical dissections with finds on the skeleton from the period between 1830 and 1950, which are very important, particularly because there is also clinical documentation for many of them.
The collection comprises unique finds, with demonstrations of inflammatory diseases on the skeleton from the period before the discovery of antibiotics, and representative samples of congenital deformities and other diseases that were nearly eliminated from the population by modern health care. Hence, it significantly testifies to the state of health of the population and the level of medical care in the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries.
