Serotonin-related genes in anorexia nervosa: meta-analyses and czech population study

Abstract

Anorexia nervosa is serious psychiatric disease characterized by the inability to maintain normal body weight. The pathogenesis of anorexia nervosa is multifactorial with a clear genetic component.

Serotonin transmission and its relationship to anorexia nervosa has been a topic of numerous studies. The study adressed association of the polymorphism in the promoter of the serotonin 5HT2A receptor gene and promoter of serotonin transporter with anorexia nervosa in the czech population.
