Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2012

Abstract

Narcolepsy (with or without cataplexy) is a lifelong disease limiting patient. Patients with narcolepsy deserve excellent care, because it is a lifelong, involuntary illness with significant psychosocial impact.

The aim of the standard clinical care of patients with narcolepsy improved. The authors assume that the document will help to reduce erroneous diagnoses of patients with narcolepsy (eg, epilepsy, sleep apnea), to shorten the interval between the occurrence of symptoms and diagnosis and to improved medical care already diagnosed patients (reduction of unnecessary and ineffective medication contrary, the introduction of effective treatment).

KS should lead to improving the lives of patients, including their potential involvement in work, study and leisure activities and also to reduce the rate of disability among patients with narcolepsy in the country.
