2.3.2. G-CSF, Growth factor for granulocytic series

Abstract

G-CSF is a glycoprotein with regulating, respectively stimulating effect on granulocytopoiesis. The main source of endogenous cytokine are monocytes, macrophages, endothelies, fibroblasts and stromal cells of the bone marrow.

Incentive to increase the production are bacterial wall proteins, endotoxins or inflammatory cytokines. Receptors for G-CSF are expressed on the surface hemopoietic stem cells, neutrophil leucocytes and monocytes ....
