Solvents Use in the Czech Republic – summary of available data

Abstract

This article presents basic information about volative substances and inhalants abuse among the Czech Republic population, with the aim to provide overall review of available information based on several surveys reports. In the first section, information on volative substances classification, patterns of their use, effects on users as well as the influence on their health status are presented.

Second section deals with findings on prevalence of specified substance abuse among adult, adolescent and school population, with special attention devoted to vulnerable groups of youngsters. Third section describes treatment requests by substance users as well as the psychiatric comorbidity of these diagnoses.

Final part provides information on mortality of users as well as the incidence of concurrent traffic accidents. The purpose of the article is to provide evidence-based review and resource that might inform future research on this subject.
