Bone as a remodeling tissue

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |
2010

Abstract

This review examines the role of osteoblasts, osteocytes and osteoclasts in bone remodeling and in calcium homeostasis. Cells of the osteocyte/osteoblast network are best placed to appreciate mechanical strain.

This may serve to regulate and target osteoclast activity.
