Tobacco dependence treatment in patients with psychiatric comorbidity

Abstract

Tobacco dependence has a high psychiatric comorbidity and vice versa, psychiatric patients are often smokers. Except of direct influence of tobacco smoke in the frame of psychiatry (e.g. direct causality or pharmacological interactions) the paper discribes the principle of tretament of tobacco dependence with attention to the most frequent psychiatric diagnoses.
